Phelps, who had been a pivotal figure in the growth and development of the sport, was rushed to the hospital earlier today following a medical emergency. Despite the efforts of doctors and medical staff, Phelps sadly passed away just a few minutes ago.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Steve Phelps had served as the president of NASCAR since 2018, and under his leadership, the organization witnessed numerous changes aimed at broadening its appeal to a diverse audience. His contributions to the sport extended beyond the racetrack, including efforts to modernize NASCAR\u2019s image, enhance fan engagement, and foster greater inclusivity within the community. Phelps played a significant role in securing partnerships with major corporations, enhancing the visibility of the sport both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His passing marks the end of an era for NASCAR, as Phelps was known not only for his visionary leadership but also for his genuine passion for the sport and its fans.
