Former Brisbane Broncos Head Coach Kevin Walters has finally agreed to personal terms with the Canberra Raiders as their new **head coach**, set to take over ahead of the 2026 NRL season.<\/p>\n

After parting ways with the Broncos in September 2024\u2014following a dramatic fall from grand finalists in 2023 to 12th place in 2024\u2014Walters stepped away from the game and transitioned into commentating with Fox League ([foxsports.com.au][1]). Now, sources confirm the 57\u2011year\u2011old has reached verbal agreement on a multi\u2011year deal with the Raiders, with a formal contract announcement expected in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Walters won six premierships as a player\u2014five with Brisbane and one with Canberra between 1987\u20131989 ([en.wikipedia.org][2])\u2014making the move feel like a fitting homecoming. The Raiders are eager to revitalize after a string of middling seasons and believe Walters\u2019 blend of experience, emotional intelligence, and strategic nous can be the catalyst.<\/p>\n
