NRL Veteran Michael Chee-Kam Announces Retirement, Tributes Flow from Family and Teammates…<\/h2>\n

After nearly a decade in the NRL, Michael Chee-Kam has officially announced his retirement from professional rugby league. The 31-year-old forward, who played for the Manly Sea Eagles, Wests Tigers, and South Sydney Rabbitohs, was among the players farewelled by the Sea Eagles as part of their 2025 end-of-season departures.<\/p>\n

Chee-Kam\u2019s decision marks the end of a steady and respected career. Known for his versatility and commitment on the field, he played 89 games for the Wests Tigers, 43 for the Rabbitohs, and began his first-grade career at Manly. While not always in the spotlight, Chee-Kam earned a reputation as a dependable and hardworking player \u2014 traits that made him a valued teammate across all three clubs.<\/p>\n

His wife shared an emotional tribute on social media, thanking fans and friends for their support and reflecting on the sacrifices made throughout his career. \u201cYou gave everything to the game, and now it\u2019s time for us to focus on the next chapter,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Former teammates and NRL players also posted tributes, calling Chee-Kam \u201ca true professional,\u201d \u201cone of the good guys,\u201d and \u201ca quiet leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he steps away from the game, Chee-Kam leaves behind a legacy of resilience, humility, and heart.<\/p>\n\n
