“$25 Million Star Signed to Replace Suspended Player – More Details Below “
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to strengthen their forward group before the trade deadline, and one trade proposal suggests they could bring back a familiar face.
Using PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool, which allows fans to create hypothetical trades, one user proposed a deal in which the Maple Leafs would reacquire Jared McCann from the Seattle Kraken.
Proposed trade:
Toronto Maple Leafs receive:
Jared McCann
Seattle Kraken receive:
Easton Cowan
Nick Robertson
2026 first-round pick
This trade would address Toronto’s need for a third-line center, while Seattle would gain a promising prospect, an NHL-ready player, and a valuable draft pick.
McCann is currently in the third year of his five-year, $25 million contract and could provide much-needed secondary scoring for the Maple Leafs. Toronto originally acquired him in July 2021, but he was selected by Seattle in the expansion draft just two weeks later. So far this season, McCann has tallied 13 goals and 20 assists, totaling 33 points in 47 games.
The most significant assets in the proposed return for Seattle are the first-round pick and Cowan. Cowan, Toronto’s top prospect, is expected to make the NHL roster next season. He currently plays for the OHL’s London Knights, where he has notched 14 goals and 16 assists, totaling
31 points in 23 games.
