The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be active ahead of the NHL trade deadline, with forward Nick Robertson likely to be on the move. According to Sportsnet analyst Justin Bourne, Robertson, who requested a trade in the offseason but later re-signed for one year, is unlikely to secure a significant role in Toronto’s lineup. Bourne believes Robertson has the potential to be a 20-to-25 goal scorer, but with no room in the Leafs’ top six or power play, he is better suited for another team.
Robertson has played 44 games this season, recording 8 goals and 4 assists for 12 points. However, he has struggled at times and has even been a healthy scratch. Given his limited role and the Leafs’ need for assets, Bourne expects Toronto to trade him before the March 7 deadline.
In addition to Robertson, the Maple Leafs may also trade one of their top prospects, Easton Cowan or Fraser Minten, to acquire a key player.
