Good news : The New York Yankees have re-signed their very best left handed reliever to a one year contract at $2.85 million…..

As of February 12, 2025, the New York Yankees have re-signed left-handed reliever Tim Hill to a one-year contract valued at $2.85 million, with a club option for 2026 at $3 million and a $350,000 buyout. Hill, who will soon turn 35, joined the Yankees in June 2024 after being released by the Chicago White Sox. He made a significant impact, posting a 2.05 ERA over 44 innings in 35 regular-season games and a 1.08 ERA in 10 postseason appearances.

Hill’s return bolsters a Yankees bullpen that includes high-leverage options like Luke Weaver, Jake Cousins, Jonathan Loáisiga, Ian Hamilton, and Mark Leiter Jr., supporting closer Devin Williams. His re-signing raises the Yankees’ luxury tax payroll to $304.7 million, surpassing the highest threshold of $301 million. The team may consider trading Marcus Stroman to reduce this figure. Additionally, the Yankees are exploring options to add an infielder and a backup catcher.

Hill’s journey to this point has been remarkable. Diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2015, he underwent surgery and chemotherapy before making a full recovery and returning to professional baseball. His resilience has been a source of inspiration, and he has become a valuable asset to the Yankees’ pitching staff.
