GOOD NEWS: Kim Caldwell announces Tennessee Lady Vols…

In a significant development for women’s college basketball, Kim Caldwell has been appointed as the head coach of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. Announced on April 7, 2024, this decision marks a new chapter for the storied program.

Caldwell, recognized as the 2024 WBCA Spalding Maggie Dixon NCAA Division I Rookie Coach of the Year, brings a dynamic coaching style characterized by a fast-paced offense and pressure defense. Her approach has yielded impressive results, including leading Marshall University to a 26-7 record and both the Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament titles in her inaugural Division I season.

Prior to her tenure at Marshall, Caldwell achieved remarkable success at Glenville State, her alma mater, where she secured an NCAA Division II National Championship in 2022 and earned the Pat Summitt Trophy as the WBCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Caldwell stated, “I am honored and humbled to accept the role as head coach of this historic program at the University of Tennessee.” Her appointment signifies a strategic move to restore the Lady Vols to national prominence, building upon the legacy established by the legendary Pat Summitt.
