The Boston Bruins have officially signed veteran goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to a two-year contract worth $5 million. This move comes as the Bruins seek to bolster their goaltending depth amid ongoing contract negotiations with restricted free agent Jeremy Swayman.

Kaskisuo, 30, began his professional career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, making his NHL debut during the 2019–20 season. Over his nine-year career, he has appeared in two NHL games, playing for both the Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators. Most recently, Kaskisuo played for the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League (AHL), where he posted a .909 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average in 20 games last season.
The Bruins’ decision to sign Kaskisuo is influenced by the current uncertainty surrounding their goaltending lineup. General Manager Don Sweeney announced that Jeremy Swayman would miss the start of training camp due to ongoing contract negotiations. In Swayman’s absence, Joonas Korpisalo is expected to assume the starting role. Korpisalo was acquired from the Ottawa Senators in June 2024, in a trade that sent Linus Ullmark to Ottawa.
Kaskisuo’s addition brings the number of goaltenders on the Bruins’ training camp roster to six, including Ryan Bischel, Brandon Bussi, Michael DiPietro, and Nolan Maier. While Kaskisuo’s contract does not guarantee him a spot on the regular-season roster, his experience provides valuable depth during this period of uncertainty.
The Bruins’ training camp continues this week, with practices scheduled through Friday. The team will hold their annual Black & Gold scrimmage on Saturday in Providence, followed by their first preseason game on Sunday at TD Garden against the New York Rangers.
As the regular season approaches, the Bruins aim to solidify their goaltending situation to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
