Breaking News: Penn State football player seeks $2.5M in locker room harassment case…….
Isaiah Humphries, a former Penn State football player, is suing the university for $2.5 million, alleging he was the target of severe locker room harassment and hazing by teammates. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, claims that the abuse included mock sexual acts, threats, and references to former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who was convicted of child sex abuse. Humphries names head coach James Franklin, the university, and several former teammates as defendants.
According to the complaint, Humphries reported the behavior to coaching staff but faced retaliation instead of support. He alleges he was ostracized, denied playing time, and ultimately forced to transfer to the University of California, Berkeley to continue his football career. The suit accuses Penn State of negligence, assault, battery, emotional distress, and civil conspiracy.
Penn State has responded by stating that internal investigations did not substantiate Humphries’ claims and that local authorities chose not to press charges. The university has filed a motion to dismiss the case, asserting the allegations do not amount to gender-based discrimination under Title IX.
The case draws fresh attention to the university’s efforts to handle abuse allegations in the wake of its past scandals.
