Historical moves as Former football Legend Shane Conlan Donates $18.2 Million to James Franklin for New Stadium Project, Says Penn State …

In a groundbreaking show of support for Penn State football, former Nittany Lions legend Shane Conlan has donated a staggering $18.2 million toward the university’s new stadium project, the university announced Monday. Conlan, a two-time All-American and College Football Hall of Famer, described the gift as a way to “give back to the program that shaped my life and career.”

Head coach James Franklin called the donation “historic,” noting that it represents the largest single contribution to Penn State athletics by a former athlete. The funds will directly support plans to renovate Beaver Stadium into a state-of-the-art facility aimed at enhancing both fan and player experiences.

University President Neeli Bendapudi praised Conlan’s generosity, emphasizing its importance in ensuring Penn State’s competitiveness at the highest levels of college football. Conlan said he hopes his donation inspires other alumni and fans to invest in the future of the program.

The stadium project, expected to cost several hundred million dollars, is set to begin construction in 2026. Officials hope Conlan’s historic move will mark a new era for Penn State, blending tradition with innovation.
