The South Carolina men’s basketball team, led by Coach Lamont Paris, has added six transfers for the 2025-26 season: Meechie Johnson, Christ Essandoko, Kobe Knox, Elijah Strong, Mike Sharavjamts, and Nordin Kapic. Johnson, returning from Ohio State, was previously a standout for the Gamecocks and earned Second Team All-SEC honors in 2023-24. Essandoko, a 7-footer, brings size and skill after playing at Saint Joseph’s and Providence. Knox, from USF and Grand Canyon, is a sharpshooting guard with tournament experience and strong basketball lineage. Strong, a versatile forward from Boston College, had a breakout season last year. Sharavjamts, a 6’9” guard and Mongolian national, has played at Dayton, San Francisco, and Utah, showcasing excellent vision and versatility. Kapic, originally from Austria, transitioned from Division II Lynn to UC San Diego, where he averaged double digits and helped lead the team to a 30-win season. Coach Paris praised the group for their talent, experience, and competitiveness, highlighting the team’s focus on building a winning culture. These additions follow a historic 26-8 season where South Carolina returned to the NCAA Tournament and Paris was named SEC Coach of the Year. The new recruits are expected to bolster the team’s continued rise in the SEC.
