SETBACK: Veteran Forward Announces Retirement After 2025 Season, Concluding a Distinguished Career with the Colorado Avalanche….

In a heartfelt announcement, veteran forward Gabriel Landeskog has confirmed that the 2025 NHL season will be his final campaign, closing the curtain on a remarkable career with the Colorado Avalanche. Landeskog, 32, cited a mix of physical toll and a desire to spend more time with his family as driving factors behind his decision. The longtime captain has been a cornerstone of the Avalanche franchise since being drafted second overall in 2011.

Over his tenure, Landeskog earned a reputation as a fierce competitor and a respected leader. He captained the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2022 and has recorded over 700 career points. His gritty play, scoring ability, and off-ice leadership made him a fan favorite and a vital presence in the locker room.

“This team, this city—it’s been my home for over a decade,” Landeskog said. “I gave it everything I had, and I’m proud of what we accomplished together.” The Avalanche will look to honor their captain’s legacy throughout the season, with tributes planned in Denver and across the NHL.
