Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner now has an “M” on his stick for his newborn son Miles…

 

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has added a heartfelt touch to his gear by writing the letter “M” on his stick, honoring his newborn son, Miles Daniel Marner. This personal gesture serves as a grounding reminder during the high-pressure moments of the NHL playoffs. Marner expressed, “I’m trying to play for him,” highlighting the deep motivation his son provides during games .

Miles was born on Sunday, May 4, 2025, just a day before Marner’s 28th birthday. The following Wednesday, Marner scored the game-winning goal in a 4–3 victory over the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Second Round. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “It’s been a really exciting time at home… It was a pretty special feeling for scoring that goal, for sure” .

 

This isn’t Marner’s first time incorporating personal symbols into his equipment. Previously, he added a “Z” to his gear in tribute to his dog, Zeus, and a smiley face to remind himself to enjoy the game . Now, with the addition of the “M,” Marner continues to blend personal milestones with his professional journey, drawing inspiration from his growing family.
