Former LSU Tigers football standout Andrew Whitworth has made headlines with a significant philanthropic gesture, reportedly donating $16.7 million to Louisiana State University for a new stadium renovation project . This contribution underscores his enduring commitment to his alma mater and the Baton Rouge community.

Whitworth’s legacy at LSU is notable; he was a key player on the 2003 BCS National Championship team and set a school record with 52 starts during his college career . After a distinguished 16-year NFL career, including a Super Bowl victory with the Los Angeles Rams and earning the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, he has consistently demonstrated a dedication to community service.

 

Beyond this recent donation, Whitworth has been active in various charitable endeavors. He launched the “Big Whit Homes for L.A. Families” program, pledging $20,000 after each Rams home game to assist families in Los Angeles and his home state of Louisiana . Additionally, he donated his entire game check to the victims of the Thousand Oaks shooting in California .
