Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that Adam Foote has been named the 22nd Head Coach in franchise history. Foote, a former NHL defenseman with an extensive playing and coaching background, takes over the reins with the goal of continuing the team’s recent momentum and building a culture of accountability and consistency.

Foote, who enjoyed a distinguished 19-year NHL career primarily with the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role. Known for his tough, defensive-minded play, Foote was a key contributor to two Stanley Cup championships and served as captain during his time in Columbus. He transitioned into coaching following his retirement, serving in various roles including as an assistant coach with the Canucks during the 2023–24 season.
Allvin expressed confidence in Foote’s ability to guide the team, citing his strong communication skills, hockey IQ, and ability to relate to players. “Adam’s leadership qualities and knowledge of the game make him the right fit to lead this group,” said Allvin. Foote’s appointment marks a new chapter for the Canucks as they continue to develop a competitive and cohesive roster with aspirations of long-term success.
