NASCAR Cup Results, Points Report: Kyle Larson Wins at Kansas, Takes Points Lead

Kyle Larson clinched a dramatic win at Kansas Speedway, narrowly edging out Chris Buescher in the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history—just 0.001 seconds separated the two. The victory marked Larson’s second win of the 2025 season and vaulted him into the lead in the Cup Series points standings.

Larson, driving the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, led 63 laps and overcame intense late-race battles, showcasing his resilience and consistency. Buescher, despite the heartbreaking loss, impressed with a strong performance for RFK Racing and solidified his status as a playoff contender.

Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., and Chase Elliott rounded out the top five, with Elliott gaining ground in the standings after a strong showing. The tight points race sees Larson now ahead of Truex by just six points, while Hamlin and Byron remain within striking distance.

The Kansas race featured 27 lead changes among 11 drivers and just five cautions, underscoring the competitiveness of the field. With the regular season nearing its midpoint, Larson’s momentum and consistency could prove pivotal in his pursuit of a second Cup Series championship. Next up: the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro.
