NASCAR issues stiff penalties to Chris Buescher and his RFK Racing team for Kansas violation…..

NASCAR has handed down significant penalties to Chris Buescher and the No. 17 RFK Racing team following a violation discovered after the race at Kansas Speedway. Officials found an unapproved modification to the car’s greenhouse — the area comprising the roof, windows, and supporting structure. This constitutes a serious infraction under NASCAR’s rules, prompting swift disciplinary action.

As a result, crew chief Scott Graves has been fined $75,000 and suspended for the next four Cup Series races. Additionally, Buescher and the No. 17 team have been docked 60 driver and owner points, along with five playoff points. These penalties could have major implications for Buescher’s playoff hopes and overall season standing.

The L2-level infraction is one of the harshest NASCAR enforces outside of disqualifications, reflecting the governing body’s commitment to maintaining parity and integrity across the field. RFK Racing issued a statement acknowledging the penalty and indicating they are reviewing their options, including a possible appeal.

This setback comes during a crucial stretch of the season as teams fight for playoff positioning. The penalty could prove pivotal in a tightly contested championship race, placing added pressure on Buescher and his team to rebound in the coming weeks.
