Breaking News: Canucks Sign Goaltender Aku Koskenvuo to Two-Year Contract…..full story…..

The Vancouver Canucks have officially signed Finnish goaltender Aku Koskenvuo to a two-year entry-level contract, the team announced today. The 21-year-old netminder, originally selected by the Canucks in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, is set to begin his professional journey in North America.

Koskenvuo has spent the past two seasons playing NCAA hockey with Harvard University, where he continued to develop his skills in a competitive collegiate environment. Standing 6-foot-4, the Helsinki native is known for his athleticism, calm presence in the crease, and strong technical foundation. Although he served mostly in a backup role at Harvard, scouts have praised his raw potential and upside.

The signing reflects Vancouver’s continued commitment to building depth in their goaltending pipeline. With Thatcher Demko firmly established as the starter, Koskenvuo is expected to begin in the AHL, likely with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he’ll have the opportunity to develop further under professional coaching and increased workload.

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin expressed excitement about the signing, stating, “Aku is a talented young goaltender with great upside. We’re excited to welcome him to the organization and support his growth at the pro level.”
