Diego Pavia is under criticism for retaliating against Ryan Williams of Alabama….

Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has come under scrutiny following his team’s historic 40–35 upset over No. 1 Alabama, not only for his on-field performance but also for his postgame comments and actions.

In a postgame interview, Pavia expressed his frustration over what he described as Alabama players’ disrespect during the pregame coin toss. He claimed that Alabama’s captains underestimated Vanderbilt, treating them as if they were an FCS team. Pavia stated, “They were talking crazy… They thought they were going to come in here and treat us like we were an FCS team. We were like, ‘What? Oh, you must not know.’ You know what I mean? ‘Alright, we’re going to see.'”

His animated postgame interview further fueled controversy. Overcome with emotion, Pavia exclaimed, “Vandy, we’re f*****g turnt,” during a live broadcast. The expletive-laden outburst quickly went viral, drawing criticism from fans and media alike. Pavia later apologized on social media, attributing his language to the excitement of the moment and expressing gratitude to God for the victory.

Adding to the tension, Pavia’s younger sister, Abrielle, posted a video on social media taunting Alabama players Jalen Milroe and freshman Ryan Williams, saying, “Alabama, what happened? How do you lose to Vanderbilt?”

While Pavia’s performance on the field was instrumental in Vanderbilt’s victory—completing 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns—his postgame conduct has sparked debate about sportsmanship and professionalism in college athletics.
