Jeff Gordon of NASCAR Makes Jokes About Teaching His Two Teens to Drive: “Oh Boy….

NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon may have conquered the racetrack, but he’s facing a whole new challenge at home—teaching his two teenagers how to drive. In a recent lighthearted interview, the four-time Cup Series champion joked, “Oh boy… I thought 200 mph on a speedway was nerve-wracking. Try sitting in the passenger seat with your teen behind the wheel!”

Gordon, known for his precision and calm under pressure during races, admitted that teaching his kids—Ella, 16, and Leo, 14—has tested his nerves in unexpected ways. “I keep reaching for an imaginary brake,” he laughed. “And they keep reminding me, ‘Dad, we’re not on the track!’”

Despite the jokes, Gordon said he’s proud of how seriously his children are taking the responsibility. “They’re actually really cautious—probably because they don’t want to hear me give a 20-minute lecture after every stop sign.”

Gordon also reflected on how surreal it feels to guide his kids through something so ordinary after a life in the spotlight. “It’s a good reminder that no matter what you’ve done, being a parent keeps you grounded.”

From pit stops to parking lots, it seems Gordon’s most meaningful laps are happening right at home.
