Headbutt and elbow: Two Raiders stars charged in wake of win over Tigers….

Two Canberra Raiders stars have been charged following their win over the Wests Tigers, casting a shadow over the team’s recent NRL success. Corey Horsburgh and Joseph Tapine are both facing scrutiny after separate incidents during the fiery match on Saturday.

Horsburgh was cited for an alleged headbutt during a scuffle in the second half, while Tapine faces charges over a swinging elbow that connected with a Tigers player during a tackle. The NRL Match Review Committee reviewed footage and handed down charges on Sunday morning.

While neither incident resulted in a send-off during the game, both players could face suspension if the charges are upheld. The Raiders, who emerged victorious with a narrow win, now must deal with potential disruptions to their squad. Coach Ricky Stuart defended his players, suggesting the physicality was part of a heated contest, but acknowledged the club would review the footage.

The incidents come at a critical time for Canberra, with key fixtures ahead in their push for finals. The judiciary outcomes could impact their campaign, with fans awaiting clarity on potential bans and the players’ availability in the coming weeks.
