Sheridan questions ‘excitement’ around Hearts deal….
Former Celtic striker Chris Sheridan has questioned the widespread excitement surrounding a recent high-profile signing at Hearts, urging fans to manage expectations. While the club’s latest addition has generated plenty of buzz among supporters and pundits alike, Sheridan believes the hype may be premature.
Speaking on a Scottish football podcast, Sheridan said: “I understand the excitement – it’s a name that grabs attention. But we’ve seen this before. Big signings don’t always translate to big results.” He pointed to previous cases where players with promising reputations failed to deliver in the high-pressure environment of the Scottish Premiership.
Hearts, under manager Steven Naismith, are aiming to close the gap on the Old Firm and solidify their European ambitions. The new signing is seen as a key part of that push. But Sheridan warned that success in Edinburgh isn’t guaranteed: “It’s a different challenge. The pace, the physicality, the expectations – they all weigh heavy.”
Despite his reservations, Sheridan acknowledged the player’s potential and the club’s ambition. “If it clicks, it could be a game-changer. But let’s not crown anyone before a ball’s been kicked.”
The comments have sparked debate among fans, with some agreeing that Hearts need more than marquee signings to progress.
