Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has made headlines off the court with a powerful act of generosity. The NBA star is investing \$10.5 million of his own money to transform a large property he owns in Indianapolis into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth.

The initiative, announced Thursday, follows what Haliburton described as a “serious moment of reflection” after meeting local teens affected by homelessness during a recent community outreach event. The shelter, set to open in early 2026, will provide housing, mental health services, job training, and education support for up to 50 youth at a time.

“This is bigger than basketball,” Haliburton said in a statement. “These kids deserve safety, stability, and a real chance at a future.”

The facility will be run in partnership with Indiana-based nonprofit organizations specializing in youth homelessness. City officials and advocacy groups have praised Haliburton’s commitment, calling it a game-changer for a community in urgent need of resources.

Known for his leadership on and off the court, Haliburton is setting an example for athletes nationwide—using his platform and resources to drive meaningful change where it’s ne

eded most.
