Papalii reveals surprise twist in future discussions….

Canberra Raiders legend Josh Papali’i has thrown a curveball into his future plans, revealing he’s not entirely closing the door on a possible NRL return after his reported move to St Helens. The veteran prop, who announced he’d join the English Super League club in 2025 on a two-year deal, said he’s still weighing up “what’s best for the family” and left the door ajar for a late change.

“I’ve spoken to a few people I trust, and while the UK move is exciting, there’s always that pull to stay,” Papali’i said. “Nothing’s fully locked in yet.”

The 32-year-old fan favourite, who’s played over 280 games for the Raiders, insists he’ll finish 2024 strong but hinted ongoing talks could reshape the final chapter of his career. His comments have sparked speculation the Raiders may yet re-enter negotiations.

A late U-turn isn’t unheard of—but it would certainly be a major twist in Papali’i’s storied career.
