DONE DEAL: The blockbuster trade between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks is official…
In a major shake-up ahead of the 2025 NBA season, the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks have finalized a blockbuster trade that’s sending shockwaves through the league.
The Pacers have agreed to send star guard Tyrese Haliburton and forward Jarace Walker to the Knicks in exchange for All-Star wing RJ Barrett, veteran guard Jalen Brunson, and a 2026 first-round pick.
Sources close to both teams confirm that negotiations had been ongoing for weeks, with Indiana seeking more offensive firepower and veteran leadership to complement their young core. In acquiring Brunson and Barrett, the Pacers get proven playoff performers with leadership experience, while also securing a valuable future pick.
Meanwhile, the Knicks land Tyrese Haliburton, one of the NBA’s top young point guards, to build around. The addition of Haliburton gives New York a new offensive engine, and Jarace Walker adds size and defensive versatility to Tom Thibodeau’s rotation.
“This is about taking the next step,” said Pacers GM Chad Buchanan. “We believe Brunson and Barrett can help us compete now.”
Knicks President Leon Rose echoed that sentiment: “We see Tyrese as a franchise cornerstone for years to come.”
The Eastern Conference just got a whole lot more interesting.
