‘I’m No Villain’: Cursed Canberra Star Responds to Unwanted Label…
Canberra Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh has fired back at critics who’ve branded him with the “cursed” tag following a string of injuries and suspensions that have marred his NRL career. Once seen as a rising enforcer for the Green Machine, Horsburgh’s aggressive style and bad luck on the field have drawn both headlines and harsh labels.

“I’m not cursed, and I’m definitely not a villain,” Horsburgh said defiantly. “I play with passion, and yeah, things haven’t always gone my way, but I’ve never stopped putting my body on the line for this team.”
The 26-year-old missed significant game time over the past two seasons due to a combination of injury setbacks and judiciary bans. Fans and commentators have questioned whether he’s more liability than asset.
But coach Ricky Stuart leapt to his defence this week, praising Horsburgh’s commitment: “He’s one of the toughest blokes I’ve coached. We back him all the way.”
With a fresh start post-injury, Horsburgh is determined to silence the doubters. “Call me whatever you want,” he shrugged. “I’m here to prove I belong.”
