We will sit down”: CFR Cluj Owner Addresses Celtic Speculation Around Louis Munteanu

Cluj-Napoca, Romania – CFR Cluj owner Neluțu Varga has addressed growing speculation surrounding Louis Munteanu’s potential transfer to Scottish champions Celtic, stating that no deal has been finalized despite media reports suggesting a medical was imminent.

Speaking to Romanian press, Varga clarified, “We will sit down and evaluate all offers carefully. There is no agreement with Celtic at this time, and Louis remains our player.”

Rumors began swirling earlier this week after multiple sources claimed that the 21-year-old forward was undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Glasgow. However, Varga firmly denied this, emphasizing that any negotiations would take place through official channels.

Munteanu, who returned to CFR Cluj after a productive loan spell at Fiorentina’s youth setup, has been in fine form this season, attracting interest from clubs across Europe. Celtic’s reported interest is part of their broader strategy to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the UEFA Champions League campaign.

Varga concluded by stating that the club will prioritize the player’s development and the team’s ambitions. “Louis is a valuable asset. If the right opportunity comes, we’ll discuss it together,” he said.

For now, CFR Cluj fans can breathe easy as their star forward remains in Romania—at least for the moment.
