Suspects in Deaths of Kansas City Chiefs Fans Found Frozen in Backyard Will Stand Trial
Two men accused in the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans—found frozen outside a friend’s home—will stand trial, a Missouri judge ruled in July 2025. The bodies of Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson Jr., and David Harrington were discovered on January 9, 2024, in the backyard and on the porch of Jordan Willis’s Kansas City home, two days after they gathered there to watch a Chiefs game.

Autopsies revealed the men died from a lethal combination of fentanyl and cocaine. Prosecutors allege that Jordan Willis, the homeowner, supplied the cocaine, while Ivory “Blade” Carson provided the fentanyl. Both men now face three counts of involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution charges.

During preliminary hearings, text messages and toxicology reports were presented as evidence linking the suspects to the fatal substances. Despite claims that the deaths were accidental, the court found enough probable cause to proceed with the charges. Both suspects pleaded not guilty and were released on $100,000 bonds each.
The chilling case has drawn national attention, highlighting the growing danger of synthetic opioids in social settings. The trial is expected to begin later this year, with families seeking justice for the three lost lives.
