Major blow for Manly as the SCORING MACHINE decides against re-signing with Sea Eagles for a 2year contract, more details….
Manly Sea Eagles rocked as Reuben Garrick rejects contract extension
The Manly Sea Eagles have suffered a major setback with star winger Reuben Garrick turning down a two-year contract extension reportedly worth around $1 million. Garrick, who has played 157 games and scored 89 tries since joining Manly in 2019, is under contract until the end of 2026 but will be free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 for the 2027 season onward.
The 28-year-old’s decision casts doubt over his future at Manly, with reports suggesting he believes he can secure a more lucrative deal elsewhere. The newly formed Perth Bears are expected to be keen suitors, while the Dragons Garrick’s original club may also look to bring him back.
This development follows the puzzling choice by Manly to let go of outside back Tommy Talau, who could have been a cost-effective replacement for Garrick. The situation adds to the uncertainty surrounding the club, with Tom Trbojevic’s future also unresolved. The fullback, under contract through 2026, has rejected a reduced offer, putting him on course to also test the open market on November 1. With Daly Cherry-Evans already gone, Manly could face a major backline overhaul ahead of 2027.
