John Campbell makes a comeback to the West Indies’ ODI squad for the New Zealand series…..

John Campbell has earned a recall to the West Indies ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand, starting November 16.  After a six-year absence from one-day cricket, Campbell replaces Brandon King, who was dropped following a poor run in the recent Bangladesh series.

His resurgence is rooted in strong red-ball form: Campbell scored a brilliant century in the second Test against India in Delhi, and he topped Jamaica’s run charts in last season’s Super50 Cup, compiling 278 runs in just seven innings at a strike rate of 102.20. ([ESPN.com][1])

The rest of the 15-man squad reflects a renewed focus on pace and youth. Fast bowler Johann Layne and seam-bowling all-rounder Shamar Springer both receive their maiden ODI call-ups, while Matthew Forde returns to the squad after recovering from a shoulder injury. ([Times Of Sports][3])

Cricket West Indies hopes that Campbell’s experience at the top of the order, combined with the fresh energy of the newcomers, will help the team reset and perform strongly in New Zealand.
