Breaking News: Jamal Fogarty to Leave Canberra Raiders for Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
In a major NRL transfer development, Canberra Raiders veteran halfback Jamal Fogarty has officially informed the club of his decision to depart and join the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on a three-year deal. Fogarty, 31, made the announcement to Raiders management on 29 April 2025, ending a contract saga that had played out throughout much of the season.
Fogarty has been a key figure for the Raiders since joining the club in 2022, and his decision to leave comes as the Sea Eagles prepare for life after long-time skipper Daly Cherry-Evans. Manly has targeted Fogarty to help fill the leadership and playmaking void left by Cherry-Evans’s departure, and the veteran halfback has agreed to a three-year contract reportedly worth around $700,000 per season.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart confirmed Canberra will now look to recruit or promote an experienced playmaker to partner emerging halves, as Fogarty’s exit creates a significant gap in the club’s spine ahead of the 2026 season. Despite efforts to retain him — including a revised two-year offer — Fogarty elected to take the longer term and more lucrative package at Manly.
The move marks one of the most notable off-season switches in the 2025–26 NRL player market, with Fogarty expected to bring both experience and stability to the Sea Eagles’ roster.
