Verified: NASCAR Confirms 2027 Championship Race at Homestead Amid Rotation Delay
NASCAR has officially announced that the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series championship race will take place at Homestead-Miami Speedway, extending the track’s role as the season’s finale for a second consecutive year.
The news comes as part of an updated schedule clarification from NASCAR leadership. Earlier plans had suggested that the championship event — traditionally the deciding race where the series champion is crowned — would shift to a new venue under a rotating model beginning in 2027. But according to NASCAR managing director of communications Mike Forde, that rotation will now be postponed, and Homestead will remain the host through the 2027 season.
Homestead-Miami Speedway, a 1.5-mile oval south of Miami, Florida, previously hosted the Cup championship from 2002 through 2019 and will again serve as the climactic showdown for the next two seasons as NASCAR transitions back to its classic 10-race “Chase” format for 2026 before exploring venue rotation later.
Officials confirmed that the move to delay the rotation — initially planned to introduce new tracks into the championship rotation — allows more time to finalize long-term plans and balance competitive, logistical and fan considerations.
