The highly anticipated Round 5 clash between the Penrith Panthers and the Melbourne Storm, scheduled for Friday, April 3rd at 8:00 PM (AEST) at CommBank Stadium, has been postponed indefinitely due to severe and unsafe weather conditions.

In the days leading up to the match, Sydney experienced relentless heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, resulting in widespread flooding across several parts of the city. Authorities raised serious concerns about public safety, particularly regarding transportation disruptions, waterlogged roads, and the structural safety of outdoor venues. The playing surface at CommBank Stadium was significantly affected, with water saturation making it unfit for professional play and increasing the risk of injuries to players.

The National Rugby League (NRL), in consultation with local emergency services and stadium officials, made the decision to postpone the game as a precautionary measure. Ensuring the safety of players, staff, and fans was prioritized over maintaining the scheduled fixture.

Fans have been advised to retain their tickets, as a new date for the fixture will be announced once conditions improve. Further updates will be communicated through official NRL channels in due course.
