Penn State’s wrestling program continues to strengthen its roster with the recent commitment of standout wrestler Nate Desmond. Hailing from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Desmond is a two-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state champion and is currently ranked as the No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2025 by FloWrestling.
Desmond’s high school career began at Bethlehem Catholic, where he secured two state championships. He later transferred to Wyoming Seminary in Kingston for his junior year, further honing his skills. During the 2022-23 season, Desmond achieved an impressive 41-1 record at 114 pounds, culminating in a state championship. His overall high school record stands at 92-4, reflecting his consistent excellence on the mat.
In addition to his state titles, Desmond has showcased his talent on national platforms. He secured a third-place finish at the prestigious Ironman tournament and was a runner-up at Super 32, underscoring his competitiveness against top-tier opponents.
Desmond joins a formidable 2025 recruiting class for the Nittany Lions, which includes other top prospects such as PJ Duke, Dalton Perry, and Asher Cunningham. His commitment reflects Penn State’s ongoing strategy to attract elite talent, maintaining its status as a powerhouse in collegiate wrestling.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Desmond shared on Instagram, “Since I was a little kid, I set goals… I believe with dedication and enjoyment for the journey, anything is possible.”
