In a groundbreaking move set to transform the landscape of college athletics, Texas Tech University has announced a staggering $1.3 billion renovation to the iconic United Supermarkets Arena. The ambitious project aims to reimagine the future of Red Raiders basketball, blending cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and fan experience in one of the largest investments ever made in college sports infrastructure.

The renovation will feature expanded seating capacity, luxury suites, state-of-the-art training and recovery facilities, a digital fan engagement zone, and green-certified upgrades. University officials say the revamp will not only elevate Texas Tech’s national profile but also fuel economic growth in the Lubbock region.

 

Construction is set to begin later this year with completion projected by 2028. Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt called it “a bold leap into the future of collegiate athletics,” signaling Texas Tech’s commitment to excellence on and off the court.
