Breaking News: Will Niko Medved go international to round out the Gophers’ 2025-26 roster…

Niko Medved, newly appointed head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s basketball team, is actively rebuilding the roster for the 2025–26 season. While there’s no confirmed information about him recruiting international players, his past success with diverse talent suggests he may explore international options.

Medved, a Minnesota native and alumnus, returned to his alma mater after a successful tenure at Colorado State, where he led the Rams to three NCAA Tournament appearances in seven seasons . At Colorado State, he recruited and developed players like David Roddy, a Minneapolis native who became a first-round NBA draft pick .

Since taking over at Minnesota, Medved has secured a commitment from Bobby Durkin, a versatile forward transferring from Davidson . He also extended his first in-state scholarship offer to Christian Wiggins, a top-ranked junior from Wayzata High School .

Given Medved’s track record of identifying and developing talent, it’s plausible he will consider international players to strengthen the Gophers’ roster. However, specific international recruiting efforts have not been reported as of now.
