Massive News: LSU tigers women’s basketball head coach kim mulkey named AP women’s basketball Coach of the Year for the third straight year…
Kim Mulkey, head coach of the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team, has been honored as the Associated Press Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year for the third time in her illustrious career. She previously received this award in 2012 and 2019 while coaching at Baylor University.

Since taking the helm at LSU in 2021, Mulkey has orchestrated a remarkable turnaround. In her inaugural season, she led the Tigers to a 26-6 record, a significant improvement from their previous 9-13 season. Under her leadership, LSU clinched its first-ever NCAA women’s basketball national championship in 2023.
Mulkey’s coaching prowess is further evidenced by her rapid accumulation of victories. She secured her 100th win at LSU in just 114 games, making her the fastest coach in the university’s history—across both men’s and women’s programs—to reach this milestone.
Beyond her coaching accolades, Mulkey’s career is decorated with numerous honors. She is the only coach, male or female, to have won NCAA national championships as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. Her contributions to the sport have been recognized with inductions into both the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2000) and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2020).
Mulkey’s recent AP Coach of the Year award underscores her enduring impact on women’s basketball and her exceptional ability to lead and inspire her teams to greatness.
