There is no recent news indicating that LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey was rushed to the hospital. However, in June 2023, she underwent a life-saving heart procedure after doctors discovered a 95–99% blockage in a coronary artery. This condition was identified incidentally during a routine check-up for a minor issue. Mulkey, who had no prior symptoms, had two stents placed and has since fully recovered, returning to her coaching duties without restrictions.
In March 2025, Mulkey temporarily stepped back from coaching during the SEC Tournament to grieve an unexpected death in her family. Assistant coach Bob Starkey led the team during her absence.
