Isaah Yeo Named New NSW Captain as Blues Unveil State of Origin Game I Lineup

In a bold move ahead of the 2025 State of Origin series, the New South Wales Blues have named Isaah Yeo as their new captain for Game I. The Penrith Panthers lock takes over the reins from long-time leader James Tedesco, signaling a fresh direction under coach Michael Maguire. Known for his consistency, work ethic, and leadership qualities on and off the field, Yeo brings a calm but commanding presence to the role.

The Blues have also unveiled a revamped lineup for the series opener, blending seasoned Origin veterans with exciting new talent. Notable inclusions are Nicho Hynes at halfback, form wingers Brian To’o and Josh Addo-Carr, and a return for Latrell Mitchell in the centres. Up front, Payne Haas and Junior Paulo lead a powerful forward pack, while debutants like Cameron McInnes add fresh energy to the bench.

With the series set to kick off in Sydney, the Blues are aiming to reclaim the shield after last year’s defeat. Yeo’s leadership, combined with Maguire’s no-nonsense coaching style, has sparked renewed hope among NSW fans for a dominant Origin campaign. Game I promises fireworks as the Blues look to start the series on a high.
