Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is off to the World Hockey Championships to represent his country…

Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander joined Team Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, marking his fourth appearance at the tournament. He arrived in Stockholm just before the quarterfinals, following the Maple Leafs’ playoff exit, where he led the team with 15 points in 13 games.

In the semifinals, Sweden faced a formidable Team USA and suffered a 6-2 defeat. Nylander contributed to Sweden’s effort by scoring one of the two goals in the third period.

Despite the setback, Sweden rebounded in the bronze medal game, defeating co-host Denmark 6-2 to secure third place. This achievement adds to Nylander’s international accolades, complementing his gold medal and MVP honors from the 2017 World Championship.

Nylander’s participation in the 2025 World Championship not only bolstered Sweden’s lineup during the knockout stages but also allowed him to represent his country on home ice, as the tournament was co-hosted by Sweden and Denmark.
