Marner, facing free agency this summer, has expressed a strong desire to remain in Toronto. When approached about waiving his no-movement clause for a potential trade involving Mikko Rantanen, Marner declined, reaffirming his commitment to the Leafs.
Similarly, Matthew Knies, a promising 22-year-old forward, has indicated his intention to stay with the team. In March, Knies stated that he, Marner, and John Tavares all wish to remain in Toronto and are working together to make that happen.
The Leafs are reportedly prioritizing contract extensions for both Marner and Knies. With significant salary cap space available, the team is in a strong position to negotiate new deals.
