Raiders Bolster Squad with Star Duo Ahead of Crucial Clash
The Canberra Raiders have made a major statement ahead of their upcoming NRL showdown, unveiling the signings of two rising stars – Matty Nicholson and Ethan Sanders – in a move set to boost their finals hopes.
Nicholson, a 21-year-old English forward from Warrington Wolves, has officially signed with the Raiders on a three-year deal starting in 2025 but is expected to arrive early. Known for his aggressive running and high work rate, Nicholson has already notched over 50 Super League appearances and represented England at the international level. His experience and physicality are seen as a perfect fit for Canberra’s forward pack.
Joining him is halfback Ethan Sanders, also 21, who recently made his NRL debut with the Parramatta Eels. A former New South Wales under-19 representative, Sanders is touted as a future star with excellent game management and a sharp kicking game. He will add depth and playmaking firepower to the Raiders’ spine.
Head coach Ricky Stuart praised the signings, calling them “key to the club’s long-term success.” As excitement builds ahead of their next match, fans are hopeful that these new recruits will bring renewed energy and help lead the Raiders into a new era of competitiveness and consistency.
