Fan favourite’s NRL career ends in hospital: ‘Shattered’….
A beloved NRL veteran has seen his career come to an emotional and abrupt end — not with a send-off in front of cheering fans, but in a hospital ward. The 35-year-old, whose identity had been kept under wraps due to his own wishes, suffered a serious injury during training last week and has since confirmed he will not return to the field.

Having played over 300 games across a glittering career, the fan favourite had quietly planned to announce his retirement at season’s end, hoping to bow out on his own terms. Instead, he’s now facing surgery and a long recovery period, with no chance of a final match.
“I’m shattered,” he admitted. “I wanted one more crack, but my body had other ideas.”
Teammates and fans have rallied around the veteran, praising his leadership, humility and toughness. While a public farewell match is now off the table, the club is reportedly planning a tribute night to honour his legacy.
“He gave everything to the jersey,” said one teammate. “He deserved a better goodbye.”
