It was wonderful to have F1 legend and former Raiders ballboy Mark Webber join us at the Supaglass Raiders Centre this week.
A proud Canberra local, Mark’s connection to the Green Machine runs deep. Long before he was standing on Formula 1 podiums around the world, he was cheering on the Raiders from the sidelines as a young ballboy, dreaming big and soaking up the club culture. Despite a glittering international motorsport career, his passion for the Raiders has never wavered.
During his visit, Mark caught up with Head Coach Ricky Stuart and CEO Don Furner, sharing stories from both the racetrack and the rugby league field. The trio reflected on the similarities between elite motorsport and professional rugby league — preparation, precision, teamwork and resilience under pressure.
Mark spoke about the pride he still feels representing Canberra on the global stage and how the Raiders played a role in shaping his competitive mindset. It was a fantastic opportunity for our players and staff to connect with one of the region’s most accomplished athletes.
Once a Raider, always a Raider. Thanks for stopping by, Mark — you’re always welcome at Raiders HQ.
