Ex-Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg Drops New Claims About His Firing

Former Jay Weinberg has reignited discussion around his shocking exit from Slipknot, revealing new claims that continue to raise eyebrows across the rock world.

In a recent interview, Weinberg admitted he still doesn’t fully understand why he was fired in 2023, describing the experience as “confusing” even years later. According to him, the band offered no clear explanation beyond calling it a “creative decision,” leaving him blindsided after nearly a decade of commitment.

Weinberg also hinted at deeper internal issues, suggesting long-standing tensions within the group may have played a role. As someone who joined later, he believes he may have been caught in the middle of dynamics that predated him—going as far as to say he might have become a “scapegoat for certain things.”

Another striking claim involved his health. Weinberg revealed he once delayed necessary hip surgery due to pressure to keep touring and recording, fearing he could be replaced if he stepped away. This environment, he implied, created constant uncertainty about his position in the band.

Despite the emotional fallout, Weinberg has avoided publicly attacking his former bandmates. Instead, he’s focused on new collaborations and finding healthier creative environments built on mutual respect.

While Slipknot has remained largely silent beyond its original statement, Weinberg’s latest revelations have only deepened the mystery surrounding one of metal’s most talked-about departures.
