Ricky Stuart reveals player decisions behind selection calls in Tigers win…

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has opened up about the tough selection decisions that paid off in their nail-biting win over the Wests Tigers, marking their fifth consecutive victory. Stuart revealed that several changes were made based on form and team balance, not just injury or availability.

“We had to reward effort and consistency,” Stuart said post-match. “Some boys have really stood up at training and in games over the past few weeks, and that’s what we’re building this team around.”

One notable call was the continued faith in young half Ethan Strange, who has impressed with his composure and game management. Stuart also praised bench impact players like Ata Mariota and Trey Mooney for their energy and aggression late in the match.

“We’re not just picking names—we’re picking players who are earning it each week,” Stuart emphasized. “The way the squad is buying into that mentality is a big reason behind our momentum.”

Stuart acknowledged the Tigers’ late surge but credited his side’s resilience and defensive grit under pressure. With the Raiders now climbing up the ladder, Stuart says internal competition will only heat up: “It’s a good problem to have. Everyone’s fighting for that jersey.”
